As a kid growing up, I remember sampling the vast assortment of breakfast cereals made available to the public by General Mills, which in those days was a wholly owned subsidiary of Dow Chemical. I cannot recall my favorite, but I do remember avoiding the marshmallow bits laced with a variety of food dyes that became slimy when milk was applied.
